Welcome to my little page, running on Drupal, and currently hosted on StartLogic's servers.
I don't plan to spend much time working on this site; but, I'll use it for odds and ends, as the occasion warrants.
Though I'm still learning both Drupal and PHP programming, I'm very much a fan of the framework. I've done a couple of other sites using Drupal, including one for the Cub Scouts, and a much earlier one for my High School class.
I truly hoped that Bush's ouster would bring in a new age of friendliness towards the privacy of citizens; but, our representatives -- many of whom are bought and paid for by RIAA and the MPAA -- are about to put an onerous burden on everyone, and most people wouldn’t even know how to comply with this new law.
I really think this is a Hollywood-sponsored end-run around the 4th amendment.
Seagate, as of 1-02-2008, is reverting to a 3 year warranty for "desktop" drives.
Over the last several years, I've bought nothing but Seagate. We have 20-some Seagate drives up and running right now.
I tried Vista before it was official. I tried it again after it was released. I even managed to get it up and running on two of our less critical computers (HTPCs) over the last few months...
After SP1, I thought "okay, it might be ready"; and I've really tried to make it work on my main computer. After 3 weeks, I'm ready to throw in the towel again. In fact, I'm taking it off of my HTPCs, too. Yes, Microsoft won several hundred dollars from me; but, they've got me working with Linux again; because, surely, this can't be the future for my desktop.
This was my first run at a Media Portal walk-through.
In the end, I only shared it with a few friends... I never published it because I wasn't quite happy with the results.
Anyway, I'm rewriting it; but, I'm using XP this time around. There were too many problems, and I'm not sure what to blame on MP and what to blame on Vista. Regardless, once I found out that an MCE keyboard could be run on XP (without MCE), I went back to XP.
The content below is an email I sent to some friends and family summarizing my decision for a cheap cell phone. I thought it may be useful to others, so I'm putting it on my site, too.

I ran into my first huge frustration with Drupal - to be more specific, the problem was with the "AcidFree" module.
One day, and I'm still not sure why, all of the photos disappeared out the albums on this site, while albums on other sites (on this same server) continued to function. This wasn't a huge priority for me; but, I "hacked" at it, on and off, for at least a month.
For anyone facing the same problem, this thread will probably be helpful: http://drupal.org/node/179362 (Post #27)
My Aunt and I recovered these images from slides that were squirelled away in my Grandfather's attic. He lived his whole life in Pennsylvania; but, these were taken on a vacation. Living in the D.C. area myself, I thought others might get as much of a kick out of these as I do.
I enjoy dreaming about those "simpler" times: Pennsylvania Avenue was open to traffic, and an abandoned backpack wouldn't bring a bomb-squad.
This is a game cabinet that I built several years ago (1999-ish).
My idea was to combine a game cabinet with a home entertainment center. In that day, I'd never even heard of someone having an MP3 jukebox in their home.
The "monitor" was a 25" TV hooked up via S-Video. The TV sat in a "cradle" which settled back at an angle for gaming, but could be locked in an upright position for TV viewing.
It featured:
This started as a "little project" which has taken much more time, attention, and money than I'd originally imagined.
It's still ongoing; but, it's stalled now that things are functional, and I've been concentrating more on my network topology, including learning about Windows Server 2003 and Exchange mail services.
